6/18/15 – Matt Wilson Becomes Seventh “Certified Specialist” at Martin

June 18, 2015

(Philadelphia, PA) – Martin Law partner, Matt Wilson, has been certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Law Section. Wilson also served on the committee which helped to create and implement the certification process. Members of the committee were excluded from taking the test for the first two years and this year a test was developed for members of the committee to take. Wilson is the seventh attorney to become a certified specialist giving Martin Law more certified specialists in one firm than any other firm in Pennsylvania.

Wilson successfully completed the 2015 certification process by submitting required documents showing that:

  • At least 50 percent of his legal practice is in the specialty field of workers’ compensation,
  • That he has practiced in the field for more than five years, and
  • That he actively participates in Mandatory Continuing Legal Education in workers’ compensation law and related fields.

Wilson also passed the certification examination that focuses on workers’ compensation law and rules and leading case law.

Because of his successful completion of the certification process, Wilson will be permitted to use the following language when communicating his certification to clients and to the public: “Certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.”

Wilson has practiced exclusively in Workers’ Compensation for a quarter of a century. For a dozen years, he has served as a contributing author of the “bible” of the practice, “Workers’ Compensation Practice & Procedure,” a 900 page textbook distributed at the biannual Pennsylvania Bar Institute conference of the same name. He is the immediate past chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section.

Founded in 1895, the Pennsylvania Bar Association strives to promote justice, professional excellence and respect for the law; improve public understanding of the legal system; facilitate access to legal services; and serve the 27,000 lawyers who are members of the association.
