(Philadelphia, PA) – Martin Law partner, Matthew L. Wilson, and Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association are kicking the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Workers’ Compensation into high gear. The centennial committee has worked tirelessly on the events surrounding this occasion and they look forward to the culmination of events at the Gala in June.

A look at just some the things the committee has done this year include:

  • The committee published a book entitled “The Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Centennial: A Narrative and Pictorial Celebration” by Hon. David B. Torrey with contributions from multiple authors which will provide a lasting tribute to the practice of workers’ compensation.
  • A Commemorative coin and Centennial calendar were produced for purchase as a fundraiser.
  • An Essay Contest was held and the winners will be honored at the Gala as well.

All of these projects will culminate on June 1 with a Gala Reception and Dinner at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. There is still time to attend this historic event where a time capsule will be filled and buried and not to be reopened for another 100 years.

The beneficiary of these efforts, Kids Chance of PA, will receive a significant contribution as a result of the generous donations from the section members.

Wilson has practiced exclusively in Workers’ Compensation for a quarter of a century. For a dozen years, he has served as a contributing author of the “bible” of the practice, “Workers’ Compensation Practice & Procedure,” a 900 page textbook distributed at the biannual Pennsylvania Bar Institute conference of the same name. Additionally, he has served since 2009 on the state bar section subcommittee that formulated the groundbreaking certification standards unveiled in 2012 and actively participates in its ongoing implementation. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations as well as the Workplace Injury Litigation Group. He was inducted into The College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers in 2011.
