Samuel H. Pond has been practicing in the area of workers' compensation since 1986. He has successfully tried a broad spectrum of workers' compensation cases. A frequent author and lecturer, Mr. Pond has co-authored the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Law Manual, Advanced Workers' Compensation in Pennsylvania, Occupational Stress Under the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act, and the nationally published Independent Contractor Status - a State-by-State Legal Guide. He is also co-author of the 2004, 2005 and 2006 update of the Workers' Compensation Barberi Book.
Mr. Pond is often asked to speak at insurance, employer and medical society seminars and meetings to provide the injured workers' perspective. He is active in providing continuing legal education and has spoken for numerous organizations including the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations, the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations and the Judge Manager Conference for Workers' Compensation Judges in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
In 2005, Mr. Pond was elected President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. He served as President-Elect in 2004, Vice President in 2003, fundraising coordinator from 2001 until 2004, and has been a member of their Board of Directors since 1998. In 2002, Mr. Pond was the recipient of the organization's President's Award for his tireless efforts supporting the enactment of progressive legislation in the battle to protect the rights of those injured.
Mr. Pond has also served as the Co-Chair of the Education and Ethics Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section from 1993 until 1997, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Section from 1997 until 2000, when he organized its implementation. He also served as the Co-Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section in 1998. In 2004, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania appointed Mr. Pond to the Board of Law Examiners. He was also appointed to the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association in 2004. In 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, Mr. Pond was selected as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law and Politics and Philadelphia Magazine and placed in the Top 100 Super Laywers in the Commonwealth in 2005 and 2007. He is also a member of the Board of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
