What should I do from this point on?
| Do: | Return to each of your doctors as often as necessary. Please keep a weekly or monthly record of your complaints and progress. | Discuss your case with anyone except one of the lawyers or staff members in our office. If you are contacted by an employer or their insurance carrier, provide them with your lawyer's name and telephone number, nothing more. | |
| Do: | Retain copies of all medical, hospital and prescription bills. You should make and keep a list of all your medical bills related to your work injury. This is important if you pay for any treatment yourself. | Call and get worried if you do not hear from us all the time. We will probably not contact you until we have something definite to report. However, if you have any questions with regard to the information we have provided or any other matters involving your case, please feel free to call or write to us. | |
| Do: | If you are receiving benefits and you begin to receive job notices from a vocational rehabilitation outfit, keep a detailed record of every job notice sent to you with the employer's name, job being made available, date you received the notice, person you contacted and results of your efforts in following up on the job referral. Please request and maintain copies of all job applications you complete. | Come into our office to see one of the attorneys without an appointment. We are always happy to see you, but in order to see all of our clients, we must insist that you call and schedule an appointment if you feel you need to speak with one of the lawyers in person. | |
| Do: | Keep us advised of any change in your address or telephone number. | ||
| Do: | Talk to your attorney's paralegal/secretary about any problem with or question about your case. Our paralegals are experienced in workers' compensation law and can answer most of the questions you may have. If they cannot answer your question, they will have your attorney call you back. The attorneys are usually in Court in the morning and at trial depositions or with clients in the afternoon. For this reason, most of your contact will be with your attorney's paralegal/secretary. | ||
Our main objective is to protect your rights as an injured worker and obtain for you all the benefits to which you are entitled by law. Your cooperation and patience are very important and appreciated.
